Startup Weekend SCV.

Startup Weekend SCV is a unique opportunity for developers, designers, and business people to team up and build a startup in just 54 hours! This event that happens all over the world can help you get from zero to a new company by Sunday night!

Weekend activities include rapid-fire startup pitches, prototype building, customer development, coaching and feedback by local mentors, a keynote speaker, concluding with a Shark Tank-style judging session.

This opportunity provides you with a challenging, engaging, and risk-free space to test out that great idea you’ve been hanging on to (or help someone build theirs).

DAY ONE.

November 4.


6:30 pm
REGISTRATION
Arrive at the venue and get checked-in.

DINNER & NETWORKING
Eat food, share ideas, practice pitches, get to know fellow participants.

Review agenda for the weekend, introduce coaches, community leaders, and keynote speaker.

PITCHES START
Optionally line up to give your pitch.

9:00 pm
VOTING
Attendees vote for the top pitches.

FORM TEAMS
Teams start forming and discussing ideas.

10:00 pm
BEGIN WORK
Start to formalize teams and take an inventory of skills. Be honest, and direct about what resources and skills are needed for the weekend. You may stay and work as late as the venue will allow.

Our goal was to provide you with the best entrepreneurs to learn from, and that’s what we did.

Chris Wadden

An active member, treasurer, and board member of the Pasadena Angels that invests and mentors early stage companies. Chris is an entrepreneur, executive, consultant, investor, and educator. He is President of Veraison LLC which provides strategic and operating advice to small and medium sized companies along with assistance for debt, equity, and non-bank financing. He has had a 30 year career in consumer products with 20 years as General Manager and President working domestically and internationally.

Ashley Lewis

Director of Product at Dollar Shave Club, leading the teams responsible for the company’s iOS and Android applications. She has spent over 10 years working in technology, at companies such as eHarmony, Zynga, and DogVacay. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from UCSB and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Victor Shaburov

Victor is a serial entrepreneur and investor, with 3 successful exits. His last company Looksery implemented face tracking/face AR technology to build famous lenses you can now use in Snapchat app.

Zoltan Peresztegi

Digital entrepreneur who has established and led a Google country office, then founded a horizontal C2C marketplace, which became market leader and revenue generating under his management. Zoltan also has experience in digital transformation: he has been instrumental in making one of the leading global marketplace operators Schibsted) a Tech and Product focused organization where he also developed the global Product and Marketing Strategy. Zoltan is currently co-founder and SVP Product & Growth of the on-demand consumer electronics marketplace Gone.

Tom Taulli

Tom founded several successful businesses, of which Hypermart.net was sold to Info Space. He has started several other companies, including ExamWeb and JFax.com. Mr. Taulli also teaches finance and investing at a variety of educational institutions, such as USC, UCLA and UCI. He has written numerous articles for such prestigious publications as The Wall Street Journal, CBS Market Watch, MSN Investor and Forbes. In addition to his writing efforts, Mr. Taulli has appeared on high-profile television venues such as CNN, CNBC and Bloomberg TV.

Gunjan Sharman

Seasoned, hands-on Product Leader with 13+ years expertise in developing product strategy, leading execution, Go-to-Market planning and managing vendor relationships for Consumer mobile apps (iPhone), Personalization, Local Search and self-serve Ad Platform on iPad.
